Carpet has become one of the choices for people to beautify their home. Wool, carpet, chenille absorbent mat are dazzling. But after using for a long time or smudge the mat, how can you clean it except send to the dry cleaner?
Mat is very easy to fouling especially wool mat and chenille mat that has long nap. Vacuum cleaner is a good helper to deal with the hidden dust in the mat. First use upright vacuum cleaner to clean the mat and then use handheld vacuum cleaner to clean the dirtiest places such as the corner, bed side and mat edges. You need to keep using vacuum cleaner to clean mats. Mats will lose colors, deteriorate and may be moldy if you don’t clean out the dust for too long.
Sometimes you may spill coffee, cola or juice on the mat. You can use dry cloth or tissue to dry the water and then use vinegar to pat on the stains. Do not pick up the broken glass by hands if you break the glass on the mat. Sweep out the chunks and use tape to stick the small particles. And then shake the debris in the balcony.
Mat will has smell after played by the pets. Put vinegar in warm water and soak the towel. Use the towel to wipe the mat and hang the mat in the ventilated place to dry. It can eliminate the smell and prevent carpet fading and discoloration. If the pets pee on the mat, use 10% ammonia solution or warm water to wash the new urine stains. You may use citric acid to wash the wool carpet.
You should wash the mat promptly when the mat become dirty but there are different decontamination methods for different stains. Usually we will place non slip bath mat in the bathroom. Although it always contact with water, we still need to wash it because stains may pile up.
